Elmbridge Model Club

Boat Section

The marine section operates from the club’s lake near Thorpe Lea which is open for model boating approximately 360 days a year.

Many different types of model boat can be seen at the lake including fast electrics, I/C powered hydroplanes, multi-boats and circuit racers, scale models, yachts, steamboats and submarines.

Although all types of model boat are welcome, currently the main thrust of activity is I/C circuit racing and multi-racing, to Naviga FSR-O, FSR-H and FSR-V rules.

Recent developments at the lake allow full-size Naviga racing courses to be set, and the club hosts a number of national ranking regattas for circuit racing and multi boats each year. Race meetings for fast electrics are held in association with Electra, a fast electric racing club covering the south of England. Several club members are successful competitors at national and international level.

Internal league competitions also provide light hearted fun racing amongst club members. These are “one-design” events for Atlantors, ASBOs and Club 500s.

Elmbridge Model Club is affiliated to the Model Power Boat Association (MPBA).
