The Elmbridge Model Club is based in Surrey, it has a Membership of over 200, which the Club is keen to expand, and is proudly regarded to be one of the largest and most successful multi discipline Model Clubs in the UK.
Potential new members are encouraged to visit the sites and a warm welcome and introduction to the Club is guaranteed.
Family Day.
This Sunday 17th August
Many of you will have attended previous events at the field and I hope you have enjoyed the day. As always here are some reminders that will help make it enjoyable for everyone.
The weather has played ball just about every year (yes I know, I’ve said it now!) but this year sun cream looks to be the necessary item to have and perhaps a hat? We will have a number of Gazebos and if it all gets to much in the heat then the Chapel is normally a little cooler.
Our car section last year put up a great display and was very well represented racing around our small grass track, if you haven’t visited our car track at Thorpe you are missing out. Our Thorpe site is also the home of our marine section and is more than worth a visit, we hope to have some static boats that will give you a feel for all sections of Elmbridge Model Club.
Seats are always in short supply, so please bring along any seats or folding chairs you might have. A picnic mat or blanket on the grass works just as well as a chair.
We just got away with the number of parking spaces we had last year and have managed to find some more this year but “if” you can car share then please consider it, if not I’m sure we will make it work. We intend to Start at 10,O’clock with food being served at round about 12.30hrs. Drinks, tea, coffee and soft drinks from 10,O’clock.
Flyers on the day
If you intend to fly, and I hope most members will please think about turning up a little earlier to get unloaded, after 10,O’clock cars will not be able to drive down to the Chapel so please keep this in mind. You can still fly but will have to carry your kit to the Pits. There will be a pilots briefing at 9,30hrs, please try to attend, if you miss it this it will not be a problem as you will have the information relayed to you before you fly.
No maiden flights and this is not the time to try out new manoeuvres, fly within your abilities and have fun. We should always have safety at the top of our list when flying at any time but more so on a day like this.
All members can fly on the day, in fact I would encourage it, all club rules will apply but we “will” be reminded of these if we stray beyond them. This will be help not criticism so please react positively if this happens.
I hope you and yours have a great day, fly safe and have fun.
