Elmbridge Model Club Marine Section Rules
1. Only 27 MHz, 40 MHz & 2.4GHz frequencies may be used for boats.
2. If operating either 27MHz or 40MHz a check must be made to ensure no other operator is on selected frequency.
3a. If using a multi model memory transmitter before launching boat ensure correct model is selected.
3b. It is advised that if available on radio equipment the failsafe feature is selected.
4. During open water time it is not recommended that mixed running of boats takes place, i.e., power with scale, fast electric with yachts for example, unless by agreement.
4a. When running power boats direction of running is dictated by the first boat on water. 4b. No class shall dominate the running, all classes shall be allowed equal time on water.
5. For insurance purposes the maximum allowed I.C. engines shall not exceed 35cc. For fast electric the maximum voltage shall be 60v.
5a. Petrol engine boats shall have failsafe devices fitted that operate in the event of radio failure & receiver power failure.
5b. Fast electric boats shall be fitted with an external safety device that cuts power to motor. In the event that boat needs to be recovered this device can be de activated to eliminate any risk of accidental opera3on of motor while under recovery.
5c. Larger boats of the offshore type must have a handle fitted to assist in the recovery of boat in the event it stops on water, either by lifting into rescue boat or by towing.
6. Care of club rescue & safety equipment must be maintained at all times to ensure damage does not occur.
6a. If damage does occur this MUST be reported to marine secretary or member of marine sub-committee, as soon as possible after incident.
6b. Two people must be present for the rescue boat to be used, life jackets are available and must be worn. Due care must be taken to avoid damage to the rescue boat at all times and it should be left clean after use.
6c. One person only should be in rescue boat so the other can get help in event of an issue occurring. Occupants in boat must be seated while operating out board or oars. If outboard is in operation then safety cut-out must be attached to operator.
6d. No carrying of live boats (i.e. with engines running). All boats should be started and launched from jetty.
7. Always operate boats safely; with due regard to other water users, including resident wildlife. Boaters take priority over anglers any problems please contact the Marine Section Secretary or member of the sub-committee.
8. All I/C motors must be fitted with an efficient silencer to the level of 80 dba at a distance of 10 metres.
9. Before releasing the boat, check all controls, under full power if applicable. (Always ensure that baKeries are correctly charged or dry batteries are in fresh condition).
If there are any doubts concerning the equipment - DO NOT USE.
10. With a new model or repaired equipment, a ground range check is essential.
11. Always maintain a clear view of the model.
12. AYer releasing the model make the initial turn away from the jetty or other models.
13. If the model gives any sign of malfunction or an unexpected jettisoning of model parts takes place, return to the bank as soon and as safely as possible.
14. Do not distract other model users especially when operating I/C power boats.
15. Competition Rules will be displayed on the Club Notice Board or be available from, the Marine Section Secretary or club website. These events are pre entry only therefore unless entered members will not be allowed on water.
16. Some Saturdays are allocated to fishing Competition these will be notified to members & no running of boats will be allowed.
17. Do not leave fuel, adhesives, sharp tools, etc., where children, spectators or animals can tread on or get hold of them.
18. The flying of aircraft is strictly forbidden unless prior agreement is sort from committee.
These rules may be amended or added to from time to time and the decision of the sub committee to their application & interpretation is final.
